A GO-TO CHECKLIST FOR YOUR MOT TEST

MOT tests are the tests that every car in the UK has to give annually after three years of service. You are not legally allowed to use your vehicle if it is not MOT certified. Before taking your car for the inspection you need to prepare the checklist and make sure that these key components are in good shape. This will allow you to fix the issue and avoid any kind of inconvenience.

Here is the complete MOT checklist:

Wheels and tyres:

Before taking your vehicle for the MOT test Gosport ensures the treads of your vehicle are even. The tread depth should not go below 1.6 mm. It is not allowed legally to drive your car if the depth goes below this level. An advisory warning to get a new tyre is given if your tyre is close to this limit. The testers also inspect the cuts and bulges on the tread of the tyre.

If you examine any damage on the rims of your car then there are a few techniques to solve this issue. Powder coating the rim is one of them; it is a full refurbishing process. First, the wheel is decreased using a cleaner. Then sandblasting of the wheel is done to clean the tougher particles. Powder coating is done using a spray gun.

Brakes:

Braking System is one of the most important safety features of your vehicle. Brakes have a lifespan that’s why if you notice any signs of brake failure you must never ignore them. If you notice a brownish liquid that is collecting underneath your car this is because of brake fluid leak that may lead to brake failure. Another sign of brake failure is brake warning light that only flashes when something is wrong.

Steering:

Faults in steering are not easy to test or repair. The tester must check that the steering wheel and column are in reasonable shape and correctly adjusted.

Exhaust system:

Exhaust system reduces the noise created by the engine and cools it down. Any kind of sound that you hear is for sure a sign that you need to get them fixed. This may be due to a leak in the exhaust engines pipe. If you observe any kind of rust on the surface of the system, the tester won’t pass your vehicle. Make sure you get it fixed before getting the vehicle checked.

Horn:

This can be checked easily, make sure that your horn is audible and loud enough so that other passengers can hear it.

Lights:

Check that the lights of your vehicle are working properly. These include tail lights, indicator, headlights, brake lights, sidelights.

Seats and seat-belts:

The seats and belts are needed to be fixed and must be in good condition.

Fixing these issues before taking your vehicle for inspection will help you to avoid any failures.
